Martyn's Law

Martyn’s Law, also known as the ‘Protect Duty’, is proposed UK legislation designed to enhance public safety by requiring certain venues and public spaces to implement preventive security measures against terrorism. Named after Martyn Hett, who was tragically killed in the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, this law mandates that venues with a capacity of 100 people or more conduct risk assessments, create action plans, and provide security training for staff to better protect the public.

Expected to be introduced in 2025/26 Martyn’s Law will apply to a wide range of venues, from concert halls to shopping centre’s, promoting a proactive approach to public safety by addressing vulnerabilities and ensuring preparedness in the event of an attack.

OpSec1 are able to provide these security reviews for your venue prior to the law being changed so they fully comply.
